The Old Folks Home

Hey, do any of you guys have any life advice for someone younger? Or anything you would tell your younger self? I need all the help I can get ._.

I've been through some rough patches in life. Tomorrow is another day, gets better eventually. There's still some things in my life I'm not happy about, just look at the good things, don't dwell on the bad, it'll eat away at you.
Just my humble opinion of course.
:)
What I'd tell my younger self if I could? Don't continue living in the moment, think about your future, many things I could have done in the past to better my future, you can't change yesterday, but you can change where your going tomorrow, next week, next year, decades from now.
I didn't care back then.

Happy Birthday Chicka. you are just a senior in training - it gets better as you go along.

My brother has been getting senior discounts well ahead of his age - I think being bald brings that on. He was happy to have them. On the other hand our mom was fiercely ungrateful when she was offered a senior discount in a store. She was truly a senior. As for me, I am thrilled with any perks that come my way.

To me being a senior is a badge of honor - for continuing to breathe. I will be 69 next month. Used to truly fear 70 but, if you take it one year at a time - it's not a big deal.
Thank you Diva. That is what people have been telling me. I am looking forward to it.
I will enjoy any and all perks that come with that also!

Wow 69 that's awesome! It is a badge of honor as we have lived thru it all and we are still kicking!

What SCG said. It seems some people just LOOK for a way to cause friction. My mother and brother-in-law could find something offensive in pretty much anything the other said to them. I bet if one of them said "Sure is nice weather today" the other would turn it around somehow. No fixing that.

However, if you are still hurt by something, it is often worth thinking objectively through what and why and talking to the person about it. They MAY not recognize the offense and are hurt that you are snubbing them. I go with ASSUME things can be worked out until the can't be. It would be a shame to miss out on what could be a good relationship except for a misunderstanding on both sides. And if you tell them, "I would like to patch up our relationship but I'm still hurt by ....." and they say "too bad", then bye bye. You don't need to get as old as a lot of us are suffering needlessly. At least you will know that they chose to close the door when given the opportunity to open it and there is no misunderstanding behind their action.

I figured when I was a little older - In my twenties perhaps, that I would try to rekindle the relationship, but we're just so distant now. I don't hate them, I don't know, they're not a bad person is what I'm trying to say. Just not the warmest.
