The Old Folks Home

Al, tough situation. You've got to feel helpless and sad.

Great news Perchie. I never believe any medication will work - so no chance of the placebo effect on me. When things start going better, I finally realize something is working. Hope you will notice changes for the better too. It can take 6-8 weeks or more till med. kicks in.

Sorry for your situation AL... really sucks. Even though it's TX, I guess SSS isn't really an option either... Had he bit me, I'd have decked him... just sayin

Why doesn't your mom reverse the threat and just walk away? She doesn't deserve the kind of hell he's putting her through.Too bad you couldn't smuggle her back with you when you left.

Glad things are getting better for you Deb. You're on the right track!

Deb, what seem like little things can make such a big difference sometimes - I hope all of that works in the best possible ways for you!

Gads, Al, what a mess - sounds like your father has become a Crazy Old Man. I know that's not a medically recognized condition, but I swear it oughta be - Heaven knows, it happens often enough. My grandfather got like that. The family tried to get licensed help for them, and my grandfather would fire them, insisting that they were stealing from them or something . . . . and then go hire someone he'd wound up standing behind in line at the local convenience store. I could go on and on about the things he did - it was driving everyone nuts. Things finally came to a head when my grandmother got rushed to the hospital with a UTI and a few other treatable conditions, and the doctor pulled no punches - he said the main thing she was suffering from was neglect. Grandmother was adamant, "do NOT let me go home with that man." For a while, the family considered spiriting her away and not letting on to him where she was, but when she was discharged, she went home with the oldest son and they tried telling grandfather some tale about her needing round-the-clock care (which she almost did) and other stuff. Eventually, he figured it out, and was furious and wanted a divorce, but someone managed to convince him that the only ones who would really benefit from that was the lawyers. So they wound up with a legal separation which allowed her son to make medical decisions and such for her. Didn't make dealing with him any easier, of course, but at least they knew she was no longer a victim of his craziness.Very frustrating, very sad, very hard on everyone.

There was a car accident, he and Hellbender were in the car. One seriously injured and in the hospital, getting out that day, one with a sprained wrist. One was wearing his seatbelt, one not. I guess in the end Hellbender was not quite as tough an old bird as he needed to be. RIP Hellbender

I visited my pig tonight. My pig is being raised with a friend's pigs. I am paying for the food and some extra for trouble. I think she loves me.

I know I love bacon.

This relationship won't last, I fear. I think my love for bacon will eventually trump my love of this face.
