The Old Folks Home

I have been learning how to make clothes for the grands. I did a couple short outfits and dresses.

I just spent three painful days trying to convince my computer that it had to go to the NEW BYC page and not the old one. We tried everything and nothing worked till my brilliant DH said, let's try rebooting the modem. BINGO! To quote a phrase. I'm baaaaaack!

All Hughesnet, it's a love hate relationship at best.

So good morning everyone! I had four chicks hatch out of 5 and survive in the interim. OEGB hen is still on her 4 eggs. We had wind gusts to 47 yesterday so being outside was a trip. It was fun watching the hummingbirds trying to navigate to the feeder. Poor little things could hardly hoover in place.

Other than that, SSDD. Hope everyone is well.
:frow Glad to see you made it!

Hey @Bunnylady , I am tending my momma rabbit 2-3 times a day to make sure she has enough to eat and is not to hot. But sometimes she is jumping at me like she would scratch me. I have never hurt her or her babies. I don't understand she has never acted like this before. Do you know why she would act like that?

Thanks Wicked I hope they like them. My niece saw the princess dresses and she has a daughter the same age so I will be making another dress for my great-niece. <3

Very nice!
The mother of a classmate made all my classmate's jeans. I always thought that was really cool.

I'm not Bunnylady  and I have more expertise raising rabbits loose...but I've had one female birth in a cage.

Has your bunny had babies before? If she hasn't she's just being a good mom and protecting them. If she's had babies before...I'd guess she feels more threatened this time for some reason. Chances are @Bunnylady may have more info.;)

The one female rabbit that kitted (is that the correct word? It's what comes up in my brain anyway...lol) in 2015 was vicious. I couldn't put my hand in the cage...she would attack and bite. I had to keep a partition between her and my hand to be able to clean out the cage...lol. And sometimes just to feed them. :smackShe was a lovely bunny before the kits. If she was a cow, I'd would've shipped her.

I agree with Wicked - if this is her first litter, she may just be being a bit over-protective. I've had does that were docile, even friendly, before they kindled (that's the word, Wicked ;)) but I really had to watch my hands around them when they had litters. A lot of does are pretty territorial; they can get possessive about their cages, whether they have kits or not. She could be getting cranky because of the heat, too. If this doe is charging and boxing at you, make a point of keeping your hands as high as possible in her cage. Don't approach her from low, near the floor; "low" is submissive to a rabbit, and that's just asking to get scratched.

This is her 5th litter of kits. She has never acted like this with me or anyone else. I had her food bowl at the front of the cage to be able to feed her and she moved it back. Now she lets me feed her in the morning but later she don't want me messing with her bowl. And she runs out of food. This is a extra large dog kennel that I moved turkey in. I moved her because her cage was not going to be large enough for her and a litter of kits. Last year we used a huge chicken brooder that was 4' x 12' and she did not mind us holding the kits even. I have a friend that want's one of these kit's for a pet for her grand-daughter so I need to be able to handle them from the get go. So any suggestions?
