The Old Folks Home

Good afternoon everyone!
Sounds like you all are keeping busy. Love the bucket feeder pics. I might have to go that way. I built the tall tube feeders recently when we finally finished the new coop addition. Not pleased. Same problems you all have with them not funneling the crumbles and mash properly and I had to put a collar on to keep them from dumping the feed on the floor and now it's hard for the birds to reach the feed. Got to get that problem resolved before the snow flies.
Speaking of snow, I was outside this morning doing some more pruning and trimming on the trees and I got so hot I had to quit! Really Mother Nature? 70+ degrees a little over a week before Holloween??? Supposed to drop back into highs in the 40's and 50's next week and I can't wait. Got some heavy rain coming tomorrow afternoon into Sunday ahead of the aforementioned cold front so tomorrow morning is going to be the perfect time to get the garlic in the ground and make the chickens very unhappy because it means they are done rototilling in there and the gate gets closed. Boy, do I get squawked at when I lock that gate!

Need to feed the rest of the bolted spinach to the birds cut remainder of the pepper lettuce for salad BF let me sleep a bit too late so will achieve squat today going to have to learn to get up to an alarm never used one working but waste the day taking pills to sleep or not sleeping at all is my choices

:wee
We are finally cooling down!

I hope fire season ends here soon

I had aged my birds spacing so no group was molting at the same time the EE and OE are all the same age
I only have 6 hens now so I can't do that anymore. I did try to keep new to laying pullets for winter laying. I will likely have to buy eggs over the winter this hear :sick

spent the last few hours trying to pull up the flower beds. It's 66 and sunny here, and I got about 80% of it done. I wanted to finish it but the ground is so hard from no rain, I am waiting for the Tuesday rain to (hopefully) come and soften things up so I can pull up.
I made a dent and that's what counts.
And found a tick on me already.

I have peeps growing in 2 coops all like a weeks from laying but my egg folks have gone to someone else now
they may well come back--You likely have the best tasting chicken egg around you.

Do you use Deet?

72 degrees here right now. I just got home from town, grocery shopping Dollar General Run. You know, the important places. Life just screeches to a grinding halt without toilet paper and Pepsi:lau.

I do like the brown paint ida for the coop ceiling. Not only would it hide the comb blood smears but also the fly poop!

I've got a varmint tunneling under the shed so I stuffed bait in the tunnel and covered the areas with chicken wire and gravel followed by scraps of sheet metal and bricks to keep the birds from digging around it. I absolutely positively hate field rats.
