The Old Folks Home

My standard sized birds are in full molt and really looking raggedy right now. Poor babies, they look like they are having the ultimate bad hair day. Old feathers sticking out at funny angles, bald patches, pin feathers coming in. The roosters seem to have started molt about 2 months ago and are now just getting serious about it. The hens seem to be doing it all at once, dropping feathers everywhere and growing in new ones. Poor babies.

5 of my 8 look that way the ameracauna won't even step outside thought they would eventually follow the others out no way... they are "oh no way to scary there monsters"

My young guineas are leaving feathers all over the place. I need to go out and check the birds but it is poring rain and tornado watch in effect.

looks like a feather pillow erupted in my main coop

We are getting the rain tomorrow that cap is previewing today.
Oh darn another sewing day.
Got caught up in my outhouses and amphetamine squirrel started and finished 2 outhouses for our quilt.

Mad house nice day oh my new window in my new coop the small room with the marans silkies

Amphetamine Squirrel. I love it!:lau. I usually refer to people like that as Gnats on Speed but I just may have to switch to Amphetamine Squirrel.

Out houses are still very much a part of life around us. All the Amish homesteads have them and yes, they are operational. Our farm had one when we moved in. It was a pretty crappy outhouse, no pun intended. No honey pit, it was set on the edge of a ravine and I guess they just let gravity do it's bit...ewwwwww. We hooked a chain around the building and used the bucket on the tractor to lift it and move it to the back of the property where it became a deer blind. After two seasons, a storm took it out. Just glad nobody was in it.:barnie

I love the idea of an outhouse quilt. Very unique. Will be looking forward to seeing it progress.
