The Old Folks Home

Weekend plans: Getting the Tums out because DH is trying to hit as many Veterans Day meal offers as possible. (This is a man who travels on his stomach.) He also enjoyed the discount given at Cabela's. (sp)

Fall is happening and the surroundings are awash in vivid yellow. Lawn maintenance is more vacuuming with the lawn tractor than actual mowing. I planted garlic according to directions and then our first frost never happened for them to overwinter to. The plants are now about 8" tall. Sigh. Still waiting for a good freeze, but enjoying the extra grow time for the kale, chard, beets and radishes.

Spent a little time this morning rebanding the chicks out of the Size 4 elastic bracelets into the Size 6. They're getting big! And, yes, a couple of the early-combers have the dreaded purple band of supposed disposable gender. (I do give a generous wait-and-see period, but log my suspicions.) Why banding? Because some Bluebars are feathered like Welsummers before their final molt (the females were born chipmunk) and we don't want to mix up the Welstralorps with the clean-legged black Marans. It also makes it easier to tell folks that the Welsummers have pink bands and the Bluebars have blue ones and the Marans sport the green. It looks like they're wearing little "Be Strong" bracelets.

I am hoping tomorrow to get the carport sides and back on to put our Elderberry bushes and Pomegranate tree put in some mulch for the winter. They are in Walmart re-usable grocery bags and I don't want to plant them.

Been cooking a pot of black eyed peas and a small pot of bean soup most of the day.
Fixin to start some fried chicken and cornbread with a pot of mixed greens for supper.
It's football season and Dh does love his Sat. college football games!

After another 5 hours today, we're 95% done making the blocks for the Mario quilt. 7315 one inch squares... 360 to go.
Came home, realized the waterers were all frozen, got everyone water, did some chores, realized I was filthy and it was 2 hours to biddy bedtime, so I finished my raking and hauled the rest of the old front stairs down the hill to the driveway so BF can take them to the dump. Also got the Cat AT-AT that our feral rescue cat lived in outdoors out of the chicken run (they didn't like it) for him to also take to the dump.
Going to spend the morning tomorrow finishing up Mario, hopefully.

deb, sorry you are still having to wait. Is there an end in sight, to the waiting?
I am on Medi Cal and Californias version of Affordable health care The care provider that works with MediCal is CareFirst. Anything out of program has to get approved which can take about ten days. Not too bad considering.

The deal is I am almost 400 pounds now. Fortunately in program there are facilities that can work with me. I do have to drive a bit to get there and wait for an opening...

So My MRI is going to be in a specialist facility in Hillcrest... an older part of town. filled with one way streets. The Biopsy is in Logan Hieghts within program but the Womens clinic again is in a very old part of town a bunch of wearhouses and adjacent to the Homeless encampment... Downtown.

After going through these tests I will have to wait for another "specialist" appointment approval.... I am supposing that the diagnosis and a plan will come from him/her.

The original pap test showed very abnormal cells. So the biopsy will examine endometrial tissue... The Sonagram was interfered with by what they say is my weight....

As it is I may have to forego the MRI.... I forgot about the screws in my knee. I will call them to find out. I believe they are titanium... The doctor that fixed my knee did his MRI through the same company and his records are on file.

LOng story short the answer could come in two weeks. OR another month... Mean while I am running on about three watts of power out of 75... things are going on because of this issue I wont share here.
