The Old Folks Home

We use Adblock on all our devices. When DH gave me my tablet I was amazed at the number of ads that were popping up on sites. I got one ad similar to @Alaskan's. Downloaded Adblock for android no more ads.

I always get a kick out of the sites that won't let you look at stories because they notice that I am using an Ad Blocker and please disable my adblocker so they can let me see their wonderful stories/sites/whatevers. Yeah, right, like I'm going to fall for that one. That is why God made that little x in the tool bar tabs.

I won't have thumbs to worry about if I do it myself.

Got the top of my outhouse quilt pieced today. Still gotta quilt it

Wish I could steal those from you. :drool Sugar coveted white starch! :drool

The best thing for stuff like that is to make sure The os and apps are updated.

You need to be a premium member or find an add blocker for android.

I use malwarebytes on my PC. There is a version for android:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.malwarebytes.antimalware&hl=en

Not an ad blocker but is protects against malware

:bow I knew you could save me!

Thanks muchly!

Adblock, duh... I will download that too.

I actually run both Malate bytes and Adblock on my laptop... just didn't think to find and get them for my phone. :idunno Thanks Ron for including the link. I am technology challenged. And now that I have that link, I can also get the Adblock that Micro suggested.

so yeah! That should fix stuff.

I just bought a new battery for my old phone... I am so happy! The old one had lost its ability to work for more than a few hours.

Wicked so sorry your husband is having clotting problems.
I pray his body will heal quickly and for you both going through this. :hugs

Oh my goodness, Wicked, what an ordeal for you and your husband. I am so glad that the doctor he saw had the common sense to as my husband puts it, not to ignore the elephant in the room. So many doctors do that. He could have easily said 'oh, it's just a virus', sent him home with orders to eat light push fluids, take ibuprofen, blah blah blah and missed what was really wrong with him. Prayers sent for a speedy recovery. Tell him to get out of the hospital! If you aren't sick when you go in you will be when you get out!
That's exactly what our FIL's doctor did to him, the doc wrote it off and he suffered a bad stroke that left him in a wheelchair for the last year of his life. Just awful! He was such an active healthy man. There was absolutely no reason for the miss, he'd been to see his doctor more than once. Dh suffered his second blood clot within a few months and if it'd been the other way around...we would've caught the symptoms.
Was typing the above and didn't see the medical post till after I posted above. Glad everything worked out OK Wicked. Must have been quite a scare!

ETA I read it that he's already home... is that NOT the case? If he's still hospitalized, I hope he gets all cleared and can come home pronto!
He likes to give me a good scare every once in a while...lol.
@Wickedchicken6 hope all turns out well glad he is back home to treat the clots

Woohoo! App finally updated and I can post again! I missed y’all!
Good to see you! :frow
:hugs Super scary. Glad it is mostly over.

Good Catch by the new Dr.
I hope you can get a better primary care physician.
Us too! It's not going to be this doctor now that we know more...lol.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! :hugs

I brought DH home Thursday evening. He's still having discomfort in the area of the clot but he's very happy to be home. We purchased a couple more pairs of sweatpants for him so he's not wearing jeans.

We made a follow-up appointment on Friday with the doctor. Before we got into the appointment, DH experienced the pain and tightness he's been having presumably from his hiatus hernia. He had pain spiking up either side of his neck, so the doctor sent him to the hospital side for tests. Again...lol. Thankfully all the tests came back negative and he was released in time so we could have supper before the restaurant closed.

We learned some pertinent information. We learned that the fantastic young nurse is the one who called the clot from their side, NOT the doctor. Should've known. And she told us exactly what we need to be aware of while his body's breaking down the clot and things we need to be aware of. I assumed from what I've read he'd be at a higher risk of clots and heart attack right now. We told her she needs to become a doctor...because she'd make an amazing doctor. :woot

The doctors are very vague about what we need to watch for. I'm not certain if they're afraid that patients can't handle it. But we can and we need to know. :smack
Wouldn't happen here, ER docs are ER only, GPs GP only. Glad he can choose to use the guy who thought things through and glad it was caught quickly!
Perhaps that's how it is in the city? I'm not sure. The hospital I took him to is in a town with approximately 3200 people. It sounds like they have 4 doctors; all of them will be general practitioners that take turns covering emergency hours. There's no surgery/birthing etc. as there won't be a surgical nurse/anesthetist on staff. Basically, the doc is there to stabilize in case of severe emergency and you'd be sent on to the closest city hospital which is another hour away.

Even at that, our closest city (there are only two "cities" in Manitoba) at 60,000 population doesn't have "all" the specialists and abilities of Winnipeg and their hospitals. We don't have a Haematologist apparently...lol.

We must not have just ER docs on second thought. The doctor that saw DH is the surgeon who will be repairing his hiatal hernia. He must have been one of the doctors on call because it was the weekend and he was one of the surgeons on call because he also was performing surgery while we were waiting last Sunday. From as much as we've seen him, we know he performs surgery all week from early morning until noon/mid-afternoon. He has regular office hours after his daily surgeries. But then he also has surgeries booked after his office hours. Somewhere between that, he visits his patients that are in the hospital. I'm not sure when he sleeps because he's also called in during the night for surgeries.

With the second clot, it was an emerg doc who saw us.

Taxes in IL on a quarter acre lot with a 50 yr old ranch style home on it were almost 2000 dollars. Here we have almost 30 acres with a house, barn and shed and we pay under 800$ on property taxes. Car license in IL are over 100$ per vehicle. Here they are something like 30$. It was a no brainer for us.
Is that $100/vehicle/year? Down to $30/year?
