The Old Folks Home

stuff like that happens to me too. Once a month the senior bus takes us to a shopping mall. I get all excited and almost always come home with nothing. So now I just consider it a place to have lunch on the cheap usually. This last time with coupon ready in hand ($2.99 for a sandwich) I discovered Subway had closed. Had to go to Chick fil A and spend more :hit.

When we go to a local strip mall once a week, at least there is a Sam's club and can get a hot dog combo for $ 1.64 - that's living it up for me. Well for now anyway, they have already closed 7 Sam's clubs in the area.

One near my brother has closed and they told him the nearest one. Well it's quite a distance so he won't go. The second closest is in another state. Hello, why don't they refund membership fees?

I got food poisoning at a Chic Fillet once. We went there with friends for dinner and I had a chicken wrap, lettuce, strip chicken wrapped in a flour tortilla. It was good but I barely made it back home and to the bathroom. I had all the symptoms of a mild food poisoning. It lasted for three days. When I looked the restaurant up on the internet, this particular Chic Fillet had reports of people getting sick after eating there.

I avoid them like poison now.

In re: dogs. I used to breed and show Cockers. For the most part they were very enjoyable as puppies, and the adults didn't act like perpetual children. The most I had at one time was 14 adults and 13 puppies from several litters.

When I decided to retire from breeding. I kept the old ones and let them live as house dogs. They were kennel trained to go in & out through swinging doors, to use their restroom. That is a lot easier than housebreaking - because they can go as often as they want and not have to 'hold on' till taken outside.

Yet the oldsters quickly learned when they had to potty, to go down one short flight of stairs to the basement, through the furnace room to the open door to old kennel and up short flight of stairs, then across the kennel to where the swinging doors were.

That is an awful lot for an elderly dog (or even me) to remember. Most of the time we didn't realize they were on potty break, till they were finished and came back into the house.

We had one very small girl that would stare at the kitchen door (that lead to basement)
trying to use mind control to open it. Sooner or later someone would notice, and standing behind her - reach over and turn the door knob. She never looked behind so we assumed she thought her mind tricks worked. You could see the wheels turning in her head when she had to work on any problem. She was hysterical.

My last three dogs made it to 14 years of age, and I still miss them dearly. I never felt my dogs were a burden but, then you have to LOVE dogs first- before getting any.

Saw that on the national news here how they did not file in the 30 or 60 day window telling employees ?

Oh beer,

You should seriously reconsider adding a puppy to your chaos. I significantly regret my puppy. Right now she's at Grandma's house because bf has been on nights all week and I was dogicidal.QUOTE]

So sorry you are suffering puppy regret. Is there any chance you could give her back to her original owner? If you're not meant to be a dog person, you're just not.

My big plan is to survive the weekend. Lots of rain coming and i already have the flu.
Take care if you have the flu people are dying from it.. We are suppose to dry out but not till Monday here

I had it and waited (5 days after onset) as I had my kid and his family here (they left <I asked them to> to avoid getting it) and was in no shape to go to the ER. 3 days in bed. Result was I ended up with massive UTI and in stage 3 renal failure. They wanted to admit me and I refused because of my animals. Went back the next day for after care. Long story short, 2 days of IV fluids and IV antibiotics followed by a 5 day course of antibiotics. I recovered and am fine, but it's nothing to mess around with! Get treatment, get rest, & don't forget, even if you don't feel up to moving, LOTS of fluids!

First flu I've had in over 40 years and I DON'T get a flu shot.

ETA: had to re-edit multiple times as I used the multi quote and it put everything inside the quoted text window. PITA to fix.
