So one month to fly from California to Alaska huh! Worse than flying with United!

I know!

I see birds heading south through the Fall and then back north in the Spring. I live under the Pacific Flyway

We are getting a lot of invasive Species! I wonder where yours came from?

There's no telling to many tourists from other countries here these days.

What kind of cranes are those @Alaskan? They are really beautiful. Where I was born in central IL there was a protected breeding sight for Sand Hill Cranes. Here we have a lot of Blue Herons. It isn't unusual to find one stopping by one of our ponds to rest or feed.

I can remember way back when they used to winter over near Pekin Lake and they would tell people to leave them alone.

They really are beautiful birds.

I have some sort of wasp that keeps getting on my screened porch. It's huge! 3" long and 1/2" around and red. I can't find d anything like it on Google. Have any of you seen snythi g like this or know what it could be. It scares the daylights out of me!

I've been battling carpenter bees all day. HATE THOSE #@%#!@!! creatures! You wouldn't believe the holes they chew in the wood around here. I've been on forums where they say 'oh please don't hurt the carpenter bees! They are great pollinators!' I offered to box all ours up and send them to them, and in the mean time I went back to chasing them down with a can of wasp spray and my broom and beating the dirt out of them when I'm lucky enough to knock one out of the air.

I'm ready to put them all in a big box along with the wasps and ship them to Hawaii where they can throw them all in the erupting volcano to placate Pele but she'd probably just make the whole ring of fire light up!

Last Fall I walked into a little wild native wasp. It stung me several times and caused welts and a bit of swelling. A couple of day later, I had a secondary reaction to the stings. It is a type of allergic reaction that can take time to show up. Those were much worse than the bee stings

DH and I both got stung by angry bumblebees last year. Mine hit on the belly, a ways above the navel. It swelled up HUGE, like 6 inches across, and then had a big nasty red welt in the middle of it. It looked like I had a third boob.

They pass over our place when they leave Bosque del Apache. Hundreds of them circle in the sky making their noises. Sometimes they fly high and sometimes low. Always fun to try to spot where they are.
