The Old Folks Home

I have an app called PDAnet+ which changes most Android phones into wifi hot spots. You can use your phone internet access for any wifi or USB device. It has been my only non-workplace internet access for years. It's on the play store.
That would be the answer--setup a wi fi hot spot and then follow the instructions to add the scale to the hot spot network.

Hopefully there is a good data plan on the phone

Cable modem.... Cox is the service provider... When I move home It will probably be Hughes unless there is a better satellite service provider.

Just as Direct TV will be my television access.

Cell Doesnt have a signal at my house unless you stand about a hundred feet from the house and hold the phone up... I am looking into a signal booster. Verison has a very strong presence in that neighbor hood IF you can attain line of site to the freeway...

Cell doesnt work here either Or I would be using my Cellphone as a Go between.

Sheesh It all used to be so simple...
The cable modem is one that does not have wireless? Most of them do now. If not, then you would need a wireless router and the adapter I linked in the above post for the laptop if it does not have wireless built in. Most likely the laptop is wireless capable though.

The above post will do it. The modem runs an Ethernet cable to the router(router usually comes with a cable). You then setup a home wireless network from the router. The adapter plugs into the laptop and then you joint the laptop to the home network.

The last step is to go to the fit bit website on the pc to add the scale to the network.

The good news is once you have this all setup, you can use your phone on the network. Some phones can make calls over wi fi too!

Thanks this is probably what I will do... I take it replaces the router I already have whitch is a Netgear dont know the model.

Wait! You already have a wireless router? You don't need a new one if so. You need to connect the computer to the home network. If it is through the wireless router via an Ethernet cable, you do not need anything. The scale needs to be added to the network via the web app link posted above.

The app will take you through the steps of setting up the scale

good to know... I looked up PDAnet and it too is awesome but I am on Verison

http://pdanet.co/help/devices.php Verison has limited the access. Though there is a work around buy connecting the phone to your computer by USB.

Id rather the cables be behind the computer... sigh.
