The Old Folks Home

Right, "gaining" or "losing" an hour screws with our brains and bodies. It takes several days to "reset".

My chickens don't do DST, they go to bed when it starts to get dark no matter if that is at 4 PM or 9 PM depending on the time of year. Similarly they get up with the sun.

I advocate for NO time zones. Instead of a different clock time, just set the "business hours" to whatever works in your geographic area. Stick with UTC at Greenwich since that has been used for navigation for centuries. London businesses open at 0800, NYC businesses at 1300, L.A. businesses at 1600. You don't need to figure out what time is somewhere in the world and no need to know if and when they do DST changes because they are the same time as you. Only need to know when they are "open". Of course you WOULD also need to know what day of the year it is in any given location.

Probably can, probably lots of them. But you know, too cheap to buy a new clock. Mine is probably 25 years old, no auto anything. Bought DW a new one a couple of years ago when her's died. No auto anything on that either.

Guess DD can do it herself if she gets annoyed enough ;)

Does that mean 4 days from today or 4 days from next Sunday?

Any idea how the vote is likely to go? I would love to get rid of DST. Of course we would then need to get DD a new clock, her current one would reset itself every day from mid March to the end of October. Small price to pay.

Except that the ATZ provinces observe the US DST dates *. Thus you would STILL be doing DST.

* I know this because DD1 had to check to see when NB changes, she has a Skype call with the foreign language admin at Mt. Allison on Friday. Wouldn't do to miss it by an hour if they had stuck with the pre GWB dates.
4 days. I am feeling much better.

After a couple aborted attempts, the duck house is installed.

We first tried to get it out of the garage by just pulling it with the truck. It immediately squished down into the driveway. Then I decided to channel Egypt and used some pvc pipe while bf pulled with the truck and I screamed instructions. While that worked, it was dangerous (I did put on goggles but I think they're probably not going to protect me from being squished). Then we both got the slightly more dangerous, but more importantly more effective thought to stick it on the wheelbarrow and pull it up the hill to the ducks. We almost had a heart attack (and had many harrowing moments where I thought I was going to get squished... I was pushing) but got it up on the wheelbarrow and oxed it up the hill. Only a minor scratch on the front of the new house through the paint back down to the primer.

This is the seriously ghetto duck house we had. Like the roof? That was my idea. Rats also kept tunneling under it.

It looks good!

I'd vote to abolish the time changes. Pain in the patoot IMHO. But just when I thought life couldn't get more complicated, in comes HAM radio which goes by Zulu Military Time. Haven't quite got my head wrapped around that one yet although it's 7:20PM right now. Or at least that's what it was when I wrote this.

SGC you think you are annoying us with pictures of your quilts? I got one thing to say about that.....:smackGET OVER IT! I think it's unanimous that we all love seeing your beautiful creations.
