The Old Folks Home

Got my broody in the broody buster. She is one po'ed little hen. Makes me glad they can't pull a trigger. But she worries me. With their history, she doesn't need this physical stress. Even if she pops out of it, her body weight is down so she may be my next loss. Hope not. She is a very sweet little hen.
:(
I've had some be POed but they do eat in the buster. I've only taken one out early and that is because she was beating herself up in the hardware cloth cage, ripped he comb. But she didn't go back in the nest.

I am in total agreement with Diva listen to the animals
Except Ripley who thinks even Satan came to play with her. However, she flipped out at 5 am, running around to all the windows and doing the growling from the bowels of hell thing that she does. It was probably a snowplow. Neither of us saw anything. We are well armed here, just in case.

I do think spring is coming - one of my roosters had to get put in with Miss Piggy for being all bloody and swollen (and camped out in a nest box trying to get away from the other roosters). This is the one that lost half his face to a hawk last summer. He hasn't been the same since, very submissive and terrified and has gotten in some very blood tussles since. I didn't want to process him last fall but seems like he's not going to be able to live here peacefully. I tried putting him out in the yard to free range last year but he just comes back to the fence line and fights through the fence with the other rooster(s). All the other pairs/sets of roosters I've had have worked out their pecking order and then lived in harmony.

I am celebrating some what.... Just got confirmation that my Cardeologist approved the Surgery and faxed the info to the Bariatric doc... Gotto love email and internet.

:wee seeems like things are rolling along. which dually makes me  and :ya I have to keep reminding myself that I want to live another forty years....

Poor guy. I wonder if it would have been different had he not been attacked.

That is great news! :hugs

Morning from my little corner of the world!

Congrats on the good hatch, Cap.

Raining here this morning. Which is better than snow I guess but not as good as sunny with a temperature of 80.

Any body have plans for the weekend?
Micro! How are you today? I am up to 8 chicks now. Plus i got silkies and bantam cochin chicks. I figure half will be roosters to get rid of. You know, chicken math. And bantams are too small to count as a whole chicken!:lau
I am meeting someone today to sell a pair of Speckled Sussex.
Too rainy to plan much outside, but i hope to spend some time cleaning my bedroom. :hmm
