The Old Folks Home

So @CapricornFarm, what's the plan with all the new chicks?

My three broodies went to the neighbor loaded with 16 hatching eggs. She is going to let them set the eggs.

I'm so happy not to have to deal with a broody for a short time I could well....dance......:wee

I eat cherries, apples, mangoes, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, blackberries, and quite a variety of fruit simply because I like them. I'm sure they've all got some sort of beneficial properties, but I'm not always aware of what they are. Even if they didn't, I'd still eat most of them anyway. I don't care for raspberries, persimmons, or figs. I think that's the only 3 I don't like.

I need to eat more fruit and vegetables. Very bad about it. :hide

But I do love fruit though. When I eat it aha although actually I kinda probably eat fruit a lot but not veggies.

Definitely not that variety though. Usually only like strawberries, blueberries, and bananas haha and sometimes apples and oranges. But I do love all of those. Just don’t eat them that much. I love raspberries though. I don’t really like fresh strawberries, too acidic and hurts my tongue sort of, but I love them cooked or in strawberry flavored/pieces of strawberry in things like jelly/jam/preserves or ice cream and strawberry shortcake. Or with other berries and whipped cream aha

Don’t like the seeds from raspberries and blackberries but do like the taste. Well mostly the raspberries. Blackberries are kinda gross but I force myself to eat them sometimes for the benefits lol

Well Tolbunt Polish need to be bred back to Golden Laced Polish because they get too much white on them after a while. The bantam are all straight run, so I will grow those out and get rid of excess roosters. I wanted some broody breeds, which is why I got cochins and silkies. Most of the silkies I bought locally turned out to be roosters. My 2 bantam cochins are broody now, the second one just started.

The older you get, the faster time goes by.

That’s true!! I already feel like time is going by really fast :lau can’t believe we’re already halfway through the year. :hit :ep

But it’s just the huge already blooming ones are really expensive and the little ones will probably take at least 1, 2, 3+ years to start producing and I doubt I’ll even still be at this house next year.

Had a great trip to the feed store needed it bad and couldn't get the main coop cleaned out for summer without shavings bought 3 bales will use 2... made a good dinner watered the garden had done that in awhile have lettuce and other things we can eat so burgers and rabbit food tomorrow night but need to get sleep again busy long day

Not only that, they are yummy!
These golden laced polish are eating like crazy! I got a free mystery chick, which is a Salmon Faverolle pullet!
I found the Faverolles to be more delicate as chicks, but afterwards fine.... and very sweet!

I like the color too.

I had a great Cochin broody ...

Now I forgot... your cochin are all bantam? And what color again?

I think for some crazy reason I only tried white Cochin, standard and bantam... and they come in so many colors!!!

I believe they're sweet cherries, but don't know which species. Normally they're made into jam (Cherry Amaretto is a favorite), but this year I'm going to pit and can a couple of jars of whole fruit. Of course, requests have been made for Cherries Jubilee and a pie or tart.
Tomorrow is pitting and processing day.
(I also need to harvest the snow peas... it's a busy time out in the garden!)
Good to know about the cherry juice alleviating arthritis. Wonder how stained my juicer will get?
