The Old Folks Home

Here, DUI #1, costs about $4,000.00, if there is no accident or anything involved. 3 months of community service is required too. All payments, and community service have to be completed within a certain time limit, or there is 3 months jail time. DUI #2 costs about double from the first time, but there is 3-6 months jail time, and community service. DUI #3 is a mandatory 5 year jail sentence. If you're going out to drink, take a cab, take an Uber, have a friend, or relative drop you off, and pick you up, but don't drive. Otherwise, drink at home.

Haven't done that yet.... thinking it might be a bit tough to get them in.
I have a step-in plastic post that was broken off just above the step. I use it and a hand sledge to "predrill" a hole and then put in the marker. Even when the ground isn't frozen because, you know, ROCKS! Can't pound on a thin fiberglass stick.

Morning old folks! Woke up to a good inch of snow and ice on all the power lines and lines to our HAM antennas.

Needless to say, this isn't the usual weather for the end of Oct. here. Usually still pretty nice so yep, this is strange and I hope it isn't a preview of things to come.

The pups went out last night when it started to snow and just stood staring straight up into the air watching the flakes drift down. They were completely fascinate. I doubt if they remember snow from their puppyhood. We can hardly wait for their first deep snowfall.

DH is roaming around the house singing 'I'm dreaming of a white Halloween, just like the ones I used to know...' which with him growing up in WI, is the truth. As for me, this is a first. Never saw snow on or before Halloween in my 66 years on this earth.

This is the view out our front window this morning. Note that the apple tree on the left still has green leaves on it as does the timber across the road. You can also see the ice on the power lines.

One of my Fayoumi hens. I have a stupid rooster who lives on top of the nesting buckets (which I love BTW) It's one of those times where you pick your battles.

This is Eve, she is my first Fayoumi cross and daughter to my Twonky who died last month. The little guy in front of her is one of her clutch mates, a SDW bantam cockerel.

Fayoumi rooster Tut, checking out the camera to make sure I'm not setting up and ambush for his hens and two of the juvenile cockerels in the background. He's a beautiful rooster, not overly friendly but non aggressive and ever alert. I'm sorry the second rooster died before I took possession of him as I would be happy with two EF roosters.

Sounds better than my method of trying to super gently pound them in.... them bending... me trying straighten them back out... :barnie

California has strict laws for DUI too. At some point, there is a Breathalyzer lock on the care too
