@CapricornFarm, I admire your drive and imagination when it comes to building a coop/pen/run for your birds and bunnies. You are so creative not to mention, industrious. I wish I could keep up with you.
I still need to get my small coop cleaned so I can spray it down with disinfectant and let it set open to the cold for a couple of months before I move my extra cockerels into it by the end of February. At the moment they aren't allowing the cold weather to dampen down their testosterone levels.
Catcher's mask? Cap I need a suit of armor sometimes.
While the Gang of 5 continues to make inroads with their training; 4 of the 5 will run back to the shop (we leave the door open) when we have them out two at a time for their afternoon run when we say "House!" and point to the door. All except Roxie who loves to race back and forth on the outside of the back yard fence taunting the three left behind as if she is saying 'neener neener neener, I'm outside and you aren't!' The funny thing is that she will do this for about 10 minutes, run back to us and lay down exhausted. Until then, may as well get comfortable and let her run until she tires of the game.
They will sit for treats, know 'down', no and come. But they exhibit such unbridled joy when they greet us that not to get mugged by them when we let them in the kitchen in the morning would have us checking them for illness. Ben and Varn hurl themselves into our arms sometimes leaping three feet over one of their siblings in order to play 'catch the dog' with us. Thank goodness they are still smallish at 35-40 pounds. But it's like catching a moving bag of feed.
We have managed to tone Ben down a bit.But not much and generally when we are sitting down, they will vie for the coveted seat next to mommy and daddy on the sofa or in our chairs by the fireplace. Which is how I got bopped on my nose. My nose was red the last time I looked so I'm afraid I will have some bruising. Hopefully not bad. I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. I'd hate to have to explain how I got punched by a cattle dog to him.
But then again. He knows my life style.
