The Old Folks Home

Turkeys had the last laugh though, cost me two days of work. Ended up getting a bad infection in my pinkie from a tiny cut while processing them, just nicked my knuckle with a fillet knife. Did them up on Tue , thanksgiving day it started to feel a little infected (I had washed my hands of course that day and bleached everything I touched including my hands) Thursday I started dousing it with alcohol and then peroxide, went to bed with it wrapped up with Neosporin, woke up Fri swelled up and turnin color I ended up going to the ER, they couldn't even squeeze anything out of it.
I cut myself about every time I gut and process a deer never anything like this. Heck I even yrs ago ran over my foot with a push lawnmower after a lot of adult beverages and didn't really clean it up till next day got infected but nothing peroxide and Neosporin couldn't handle. First time I've been on antibiotics in at least 15yrs.
After the ER,

Hurt like he!! I actually went to work Fri and was going to put it off till end of day but showed the lab supervisor when I was testing a milk sample, he's a baddasz retired Marine sergeant, he said 'damn, you better get to urgent care and get a shot or something for that!' Soo, beings I know he's seen much worse I asked if I could leave and get it taken care of Lol.
Ow! Hope it feels better now.

We chose to leave the snow alone. It didn't rain at all until 3 PM so we shouldn't get too much. But since it is above freezing the "Christmas-card look" has a definite "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" quality. The alpacas and chickens didn't mind though. Supposed to stay above freezing until late afternoon Tuesday. Then the ice rink will start :sick

You are going to be in BIG trouble when you retire - EVERY day is a weekend day!
Yeah, I am retired, know how that goes!

Ow, @CapricornFarm. Not pleasant at all.

Survived the cold. Slept most of yesterday afternoon. To bed early, slept 10 more hours, each time I woke up I felt better. Thank goodness the flu shot worked it's magic and it didn't settle in 'hard'.

@dsqard, the water colors are great. You are progressing steadily with your skills!

15 degrees here this morning. I'll go out soon to let the birds out as there is no sense letting them loose when it is so cold. The Fayoumis are idiots and will be out raising up one foot and then the other to warm them in their breast feathers and then go back to scratchin in the dirt. I don't need frozen toes to deal with so in they stay.

I don't mind being a senior but I do detest being referred to as 'elderly' in the news especially when the 'elderly' person is younger than me. For instance, '64 year old ELDERLY St. Louis man was hospitalized today after a two car accident....' I mean come off it people. I took care of 'elderly' people. To me elderly means so old that you can't take care of yourself any longer and don't know your knee from your elbow. As a doctor once told me. Age is a number, not a condition.

Still, retirement is a Sunday following 6 Saturdays.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

At the MD office, have an ear infection with stuff leaking out. It's annoying.
I hope you get that healed up soon! Can't go around leaking from the ears!

I wonder if this will change when more of the Boomers are older
