Hi everyone. Cash is still with us, in fact he is back to what passes for normal for Cash. We talked to the vet about what happened to him. Cash had vomited the day before and he speculated that may have set off his hypoglycemic attack

Varn is fine. Vet said he was dissolving an internal suture and it was causing the irritation. He said that happened at around 3 weeks if it was going to happen so he is right on schedule. No antibiotics needed. He said he and his siblings would take care of it for him.

While he was there, we witnessed him actually playing with one of the office cats which prompted me to say, sure, play with the vets cats, try to kill ours, that's the way to do it...stupid dog.

Other than that, I'm still studying....we did get out today and clear a couple of paths behind the house. Felt good to be active and it was a fairly nice day outside.

@CapricornFarm, your chicks are adorable!

It was probably the teller... Years ago, my dad's boat was in the ship yard down in the Miami area. It was going to be there for at least 6 months, so they opened a bank account down there too. When my dad's paychecks would come in, they would go deposit the check, than want the bank to route a portion of the check into their account here. The account here was set up for paying bills, and some of it was automatic.

The teller let them know, they could not route the money. ???? Ok, she called another person, they called another. Finally, one of the tellers knew how to do it, and tried showing the others. Next month, same thing. They only had the one teller that could do it. If she was out, or on vacation when they went in, no one there could do it. Want to hear the crazy part? They could use that same bank's ATM outside, and IT could do what was needed. Crazy eh?

International checks can be a bit tricky, especially when a local bank doesn't ever deal with them. Again, most of it relies on a teller, or manager that has had experience in dealing with the situation, or they're lost. Sometimes you have to go higher up the food chain to get to someone that can find out how to go about handling that type transaction. Since it's going to be on a semi-steady basis, you might want to do so. At my parents' bank, when my dad worked, and got paid from overseas accounts, the lady that handled mostly everything for my mom, was Celia. She was the assistant bank manager.
It was really stupid because the check was drawn on a us bank.

Thanks Becky! Good luck on your test!

@bruceha2000, the practice tests are 50 questions, randomly chosen from a pool of 712 questions. My test next week will be another randomly selected test with questions from that pool. The material is broken down into sections with X number of questions selected from each area.

I swear these people just sit around in a smoke filled dimly lit room passing around papers and muttering, 'no, that isn't worded cryptically enough, make it harder' They only pause when the nearby radio crackles into life and they all jump up proclaiming "That sounds like a South Africa Station!" and they all grab for the mic at the same time.

If anybody is curious, this link will take you to an Element 4/Extra practice test. It's impossible to just memorize the questions. They actually make you read the material in order to come up with the right answer....the audacity!

But the practice tests do help.

Idk, I even asked for input from the manager and he refused. Idiots!
"he" being the teller or the manager?

If the former I would have parked my butt outside the bank manager's office until he came out if it took all day. If the latter I'd be telling the manager off, including the fact that you had been cashing those checks for 3 years and to get his supervisor (next up the chain in the bank ASSUMING it isn't a 1 location bank) either in person or on the phone ASAP.

It was really stupid because the check was drawn on a us bank.
OK, I'm confused, I thought you said it was a Canadian check (or is that cheque?). Canadian person with a US Bank account?

The manager was no help. Teller is a woman. The check originated in Canada, but was drawn on a US bank , in us dollars.
I needed to get to the doctor's office or i would have gone in and argued in person.

The girls and guys at our bank are great even though they pulled the same trick on my husband. We get a monthly restitution check from the felon who stole almost 50,000 dollars from our business 12 years ago. They pay us back a ridiculous 75$ a month or go to prison. I usually take the check in to get it cashed and we have a good laugh over the amount. Yeah, sure, the felon stole 50,000 dollars over 4 years plus an identity theft and we get 75 a month. Slap on the wrist literally.

One month DH went in to cash the check and they made him show them ID. He wasn't happy but when they saw the name they immediately knew who he was and it never happened again.

Sometimes their attitude makes a difference. But there is no excuse for rude. Bank manager needs to know what is going on.

2004 I opened a checking account at a new bank. The woman was a sarcastic batch, she asked me if I knew how to write a check. I told her I had a business checking account in Chicago for several years (different bank) no problem ever. Moved out of Chicago in 1969.

I tried another location when I was out for one of my "walk abouts," and the woman there was nasty - good by.

Two other branches I tried were wonderful but far. The branch closest to my house is very good - I think because I told him first about the problems I had at other branches.
My brother also has some CD's and stuff at the same bank. Enough $$$ to make them respect the family name.

I am for lack of a better word, "unforgetable". When I walk in the branch I use, everyone says hello to me. I do not have to remove hat or sunglasses. I do not have to show state ID. They know how I want things handled and I never have to remind them. I'd have to say I get first class respect. What a good feeling for a change. BTW the tellers are sincerely nice to everyone. I'm in no way rich but, the way they treat me makes me momentarily feel I am.

PS I guess they reason that I couldn't get far/fast away on a senior bus - so they don't worry about me.
