The Old Folks Home

DH's office was in the middle of a huge farming community. Common to be sitting in my office and hear the farmers complain about everything. I couldn't help myself one day and pointed out to them that they didn't seem happy unless they had something to complain about. If it was dry they wanted rain, if it rained, things were too wet, If it snowed, it was too deep, if it didn't snow, they didn't have enough ground water for spring planting. The list went on and on and by the time I'd finished they were slapping their knees and agreeing with me.

I love farmers. They are the bees knees IMHO. Many times I heard them say that they would be glad to get harvest done. They didn't mind eating Thanksgiving Dinner in the harvester but no way they would open their Christmas gifts in their tractor.

Got home from town at 1. Got groceries put away, mostly meat and the like and did a crash and burn. Very warm here today, something like mid 80s. I'm afraid it's our Indian Summer but DH says no, it will be in November.

Me? I'll take what I can get as long as it's in the 70s and not snowing out for Halloween like it was last year.

One neighbor up the street has an old two-stroke tractor that he wrenches, revs and rides on occasion.
Bet you mean two cylinder. John Deere putt putt. Milk truck driver that comes into our plant, young guy little younger than me anyway said a kid when he was in H school 90's converted a truck with his dad, drove it to school with a John Deere two cylinder engine... dang that's something I'd like to see and hear. Truck coming down main street pop pop pop ...
