The Old Folks Home

Oh my sweet lordie I must be as old as dirt then because all I wanted to do yesterday was sleep.

I woke up long enough to get something constructive done like a meal or feeding dogs cats and chickens but then the sofa beckoned to me and I could not resist its sirens call.

Guess I've been going at things to strong lately and my body is telling me to slow down and smell the roses, or the golden rod depending on where you live.

Me, I'm a night owl and not a morning person. Always worked second shift. Tried days for awhile and it sucked getting up at 4:30 every morning. I'm getting my second wind about 8PM and not wanting to go to sleep before midnight. DH is the opposite so I guess it balances out. He's up early to let the dogs out and feed the cats and I get up around 7-8, stagger around until my joints get loosened up and I infuse enough coffee to come out of my zombie state, then I'm off and running until 11 pm or so.

Some people are morning people (me!) and some are definitely not. DH isn't fit for human consumption nor conversating until about an hour after he rolls out of bed and is sufficiently caffeinated. We have a Navajo nickname for him which roughly translates into "Morning Bear."
Yes, I was trained from a young age to be a night owl. Dad was a train dispatcher and took me to work with him at night to work 3rd shift. So I would be kept awake as long as possible so he could sleep when he got off work.

We gave up pop cold turkey back when we retired 6 years ago, now. Haven't missed it till this past summer when on a real hot day I opened the fridge and said out loud, Man, I would kill for a cold can of Diet Coke right now!

It passed almost immediately. I think the last time I got a pop was during a Micky D stop about two years ago. It didn't didn't even taste good to me.

Now I drink decaffeinated iced tea and ice water. DH drinks the flavored water and I do drink that on occasions. I feel a lot healthier without it.

But they will still pry a Hershey big block bar out of my cold lifeless hand. Maybe even have to use dynamite if it's semi sweet chocolate!
