@CSolis. If she is getting off the nest you will know it when she leaves you a big ol stink to high heavens broody poo for your enjoyment. It's like how can such a monstrous poop come out of a little hen and smell THAT bad?
One of the guys here at the home gave me some of the best advice when dealing with a broody. Put them by themselves with their nesting box and an area they can roam around in without being harassed by roosters, and where other hens can't commandeer her nest for their own laying needs. Trust me. It solves a multitude of problems and you will be able to tell if she is getting off the nest to eat/drink and she won't be getting into the wrong nest box which I have had happen.
One year I had three hens go broody at once. They kept playing musical nests. Doesn't sound bad until you realize they haven't been able to get to their nest because another hen has taken it over in her absence and she's now sitting on a nest with two newly laid eggs in it instead of her own nest with 6 incubating eggs.
I had a terrible hatch from that fubar but learned my lesson the hard way.
