The Old Folks Home

Years ago there was this cough remedy at Big B drugs in Prattville. It was called Turpenhydrate if I recall correctly. I got a bottle one time when I had bronchitis just to clear my airways. First sip lit me on fire! Basically turpentine with honey in it. Hoo boy, two sips and I was drunk as a skunk, but within a half hour I had nearly cleared my lungs and could breathe. Some old timey 'medicines' work great, or at least better than today's 'medicine'. Another example of turpentine. I had a yearling colt that constantly had sinus issues. He was allergic to something in his feed. Well, I started letting him out after feed time, and he would head straight to a lighter stump and start gnawing on it, then just mosey off.. No more sinus issues for him.
What's a lighter stump?

Afternoon all.

Last nice day before the weather heads south with rain for a day or two and falling temps.

Got the last of my coops cleaned today and DH spread the litter on the pasture. Got straw down, I still need to cover one window for the winter and wash the other windows and door windows but at least that task is done.

Meanwhile back at the ranch house it's been a little over 48 hours since my Yellow Jacket sting and I'm sitting here wondering how more swollen and red the palm of my right hand can get. My tube of Cortizone 10 is my constant companion right now because the itching is driving me crazier than I normally am.

I'm also slowly gathering my supplies for my colonoscopy prep. Miralax ordered, Gatorade in fridge, docusate on hand, jello, check. today I got butterscotch hard candies for comfort food that won't shoot through me like grass through a goose and today I ordered chicken bone broth concentrate. I also have unsweetened Kool aid on hand...nothing red or pink :rant I see my DO tomorrow.

The worst part is the preparation.. I've had 7 conoscopies.. none hurt as much as the first ones that I paid out of the pocket and wondered if I would ever have money left over to buy myself my own property! At 21 years old, a colonoscopy is a terrible expensive procedure when your friends are spending their money on a property!

Um, do you think maybe you should get it looked at? That sounds bad.

:hugs Most get to wait until they are 50 or so!

I have always had a light in my coops .. My Grandma did my Parents did..
So did my dad, a light, to increase productivity and right above their water to keep it thawed out liquid, not a heat lamp. I run a light for years for also same. Don't anymore. Just don't see the huge benefit in it have to weigh the cost of electricity against the benefits of a few frozen eggs .
