I worry more about bringing home diseases for the animals to contract.
Me too. When I go to the feed store, or around anyone else's chickens, I make sure the outside of the feed bags are wiped down with Clorox solution, then take a shower, then dump the cleaned feed bags into the storage containers. At that point, I can take the feed storage containers back out to the coop.
 
No, it's not that I'm overly paranoid. It's that when we were house hunting, there was a property we looked at with free range chickens (and kids), and they had a severe form of Infectious Coryza. No quarantine, no bio-safety measures, just leave them to roam all over to contaminate everyone, and everything. She takes no extra precautions at the feed store either, so she and her kids contaminate everything they come into contact with. Now you know.....
