The Old Folks Home

Watch the weather Channel.
Couldn't sleep so I got up and checked the weather. Now we have gone from thunder storms to a tornado watch. Not sure how to watch for a tornado in the dark.

Or, if no power, get in the basement if you hear a sound like a train....

We have storm warnings, high wind alerts, flood warnings, surge warnings, tornado warnings, etc. It's going to get a bit rough, mostly from the wind, rain, etc., until at least 5 pm, and tornado watches until 9 pm.
Hunker down and stay safe. We got shook pretty good last night and I swore I could hear the siren on but to sleepy to open the door. Absolutely nothing we can do out were we are but wait it out.

We had lots of snow predicted, but the last two storms produced nearly nothing on the ground. However, we've had bone-chilling wind and our temps haven't been up above freezing for a bit.
I had my final ortho appt. before surgery yesterday and by the time I walked in from the parking lot the chill had frozen up my joints so that I was creaking along like the TinMan. Surgery is next Wednesday and I am actually looking forward to it in a sort of trepidatious way.

I spent the morning getting my cousin's computer working with the second monitor. She bought a brand new one, but kept her older monitors. She works from home, most of the time, so her job requires the use of 2 monitors. I offered a couple weeks ago to set it all up for her, but she had already made arrangements with our cousin Will.

Ok, so cousin Will is this highly paid computer whiz, IT tech that works for a national company. He's been doing this for years. This is a simple set up, with no frills, except the second monitor. He's more than qualified for the job, right? He finally goes, and sets up the computer, but couldn't get the second monitor working. He had my cousin order another cable. The new cable came, and nope, it didn't change anything. He told her that her monitor was probably too old for the newer technology, and she should order a new one.

My cousin called me last night, and asked me to come look at her computer set up. When she told me the problem, I told her that some of the older monitors, you have to go into settings, and manually select the input. She didn't know how to do that, so I told her I'd go over this morning.

I took various cables, and a spare monitor. When I got there, the very first thing I did, was change the input setting in the non-working monitor. Viola! It jumped to life. Now, you would think an techno expert with years of experience, would have known to check the monitor settings. It took less than a minute to fix the problem, yet she's been without her computer, for at least 4 days.
