Another thing we have in common, Arielle! I wasn't going to change my name at all when we married. I don't consider myself a libber but I had accounts, investments, property, business contacts, etc, in my name and didn't feel it would be easy or necessary to change it. Besides, I was 34 when I married for the first time and set in my ways. One other reason was because I am very close to and proud of my family and our name (which is well thought of in the area) and his name is very common and he and his family rarely see each other even though they live in the same county. I decided to hyphenate my name when our first child was born so that people could make the connection between me and the kids on paper for school, insurance, etc. Well, that has been about as hard. People will drop mine and use just his at their convenience. I answer to whatever is close!Years ago my parents were big on dinner parties; we lived in a small town with small towns all around. Guests were Mr and Mrs. THen I startred working part time jobs and found Mrs C was also Dr. S --then I was completely confused which name to call her!!! Fortunately she ansered to BOTH!
In general, I'm old school, and still use Mr and Mrs. especially if the person is older than I am. Of course now that I am older with kids in school I feel VERY old to be called Mrs --------. I want to look around for my mother or my MIL!!!!( I also answer to two names; I didn't change my name when we married but everyone assumes that I did!!)![]()
