That speckled egg is really nice, although for a good speckled egg I always recommend people to cross their dark layers. (welsummer x marans, marans x penedesenca, etc)

Well, I have a long road to go down and wait for an olive egg or two for, but hey, at least I have two Olive Egger pullets now, haha!

Yeah, my preference is a darker base color with lots of speckles or stippling...hard to find, though!

This Wellie hatching is from Whitmore. She is the only hen I hatched last year. Came from a super dark egg...pictured here hatching.

This is one of the eggs she has layed. She lays dark, dark eggs to sometimes light tan, but almost always speckled.

I have her in my Lavender Ameraucana pen. I really hope to get some green speckledy eggs from her offspring. Babies are in the bator now...

I have one of those wellies. The last hatch I did with all the speckled eggs (November) I got all girls

I'm trying to sell them with EE x Ameraucana roos to get my numbers down. I'll have eggs for sale after I get everybody seperated again.

I am jumping in on this thread, now that I see it. I have two OE pullets from HappyChooks, who appear to be sired by her Wellie roo. Can't wait for the eggs!!

ETA: Oh, yeah...and a olive egg in the incubator that looks about like the one in Wynette's avatar. It's from LovinMyPeeps!
