The Olive-Egger thread!

Hi,

Wanted to give an update. (I am the one who had two power outages, while incubating the most wonderful olive colored eggs!)

Well..... I do see movement. In at least two. Sort of afraid to take to many of them out for too long! Some of the eggs are so dark Olive that they are hard to see through! But , most have an air sack, so that's good right?

Today is day 12, by the original date, before power the outage. I think I will give them an extra day in the turner. I will put them in lock down on, say, day 19.

Whenever I hatch eggs, I am always amazed that anything hatches. It's such a little miracle!

Don't toss any eggs. If you are unsure, just put a ? on it. I had a few ? eggs that I thought had died, and they hatched.

Good luck!

If you can get your hands on some wheaten-based girls, the babies are color sexable. I am so happy with the wellie X OEs

Amy- I know you've said the OExWellies are sexable similar to Wellies. What do they grow up to look like? What features do they get from the Ameraucana genes...

I dont' have any of the F2s full grown yet, but so far they look just like thier moms- like bearded wellies.

If this gets posted twice its because I am having internet problems. Grrrr.

Ok, that's what I thought would be the case... Should be pretty birds!

If I breed this black Amerc hen to a Wellie roo, the F1 would probably look like the Welsummer color, I hope. I dont think you can sex them THAT easily LOL!
