The Olive-Egger thread!

Wynette, thank you for your input. All of my chickens are hatchery stock (my CM is from Murray McMurray), I'm sure they don't put as much time and energy into the quality of their breeding that small scale breeders do. Regardless of their parentage I'm excited to see what they mature into and I hope that I get one "olive egger" out of the bunch. As I become more educated I'm finding my chicken hobby to be more and more interesting.

Thanks, daps!

7 - yeppers, I know what you mean. I'm getting very interested in genetics...but I just don't have the mind for it, so I get frustrated trying to figure things out in that regard. With my olive eggers, I'm just striving for a pretty egg color, not uniformity in the actual bird. I spent hours upon hours of time researching my other breeds, making them better & better each year.....the olive eggers are just a fun breed for me to "relax" a bit with and just work on one thing - egg color!

This is the approach I plan to take with my Marans...no worry about conformation or anything else, just egg color. But, now I'm in the wrong thread.

I do plan to get an OE group going as well tho.

I don't know Wynette, but if you find a trick let me know!!!! I have trouble getting vibrant pics of my rooster and my EE's green eggs. The eggs just look so pale in photo's than they really are.

Anyway, you eggs still look gorgeous. I love the speckles, and they look to have a golden glow.

Kelly, they DO sorta have a coppery glow! I really hope they lighten up...yeah, THIS from a Marans breeder! HA!
