The Olive-Egger thread!

Thanks, 7!

Kelly, I was actually wondering what outcome I'd get if I crossed her to a Blue Ameraucana roo. I may have to try it!

Well the little one I have from Ruth's eggs (courtesy of the warden) that I posted on page 36 looks like it may be a boy.

But I'm not giving up until I hear him crow. If it turns out he is a little roo, I might keep him and breed him to my Ameraucana's and 2 BCM's and see what I get.

Yeah I absolutely LOVE this thread, but sadly my Olive Eggers cannot be created until my Marans and Ameraucanas grow up. Com'on guys!

Anyway, one of my biggest excitements and "what if's" is if you take an Olive Egger (the rich, dark kind) and breed it back to a blue-egg layer. Anyone done this before? Because I'm hoping it will produce a bird who can lay a really rich green color. Not an EE green - But a true green.

For me, that will be 11 months down the road.

Illia, I'm actually in the planning stages to "loan out" my "golden olive egger" F2 girl to do just that! I should know by fall what the outcome will be! SO exciting!

Kelly, maybe we'll get some pullets out of the eggs I have coming from Wynette! Wanna share again? If it's any consolation about Sweet Cheeks, I still think the black with penciling EE is a Roo.

He's going to have to crow before I give up!
