The Olive-Egger thread!

Are most OE black or blue? I have a Marans who was hatched from a olive egg. He was 3rd generation. He is 7/8 marans and 1/8 Ameraucana. If I breed him to my EE's or a wheaten Ameraucana, would I get colorful chicks or would they mostly be dark colored chicks? Would there be any EE genes still left in him? (Like a blue egg gene somewhere buried in him?) or some fun colored chick genes?

CrazyCatNChickenLady! Beautiful birds!!!

This is for everyone asking about the Blue pullet I posted a picture of....

This is my rooster Fred, and my Ameraucana hen Peaches. I am not sure what kind of rooster Fred is, he was given to me by my brother, who found him after someone dumped him on the ranch he works. I kinda think Fred is a Cockoo Maran, but he could just be a Barred Rock.

I figured iether way he is a brown egger, just a differance on how dark. Hope this answers your questions.

Peaches is very nice looking...

Got a good pic of my blue girl. I cannot wait for her to start laying!

The laced girl in front is due to start laying anytime. These are the last of my dominant white project and the egg color has potential to be a nice bright green or olive. Hopefully. Cant wait though! Her single combed sister/hatchmate started laying a couple weeks ago and lays a nice little redish brown egg.

What a stunning blue bird! Love the feathered feet! That is exactly what I want to figure out how to breed.......

Thinking about putting my 4 splash marans girls with a blue wheaten ameraucana boy later this fall.

Oh that would make some beautiful pullets.
I know it takes time to hatch, grow, evaluate, then breed, hatch, grow and evaluate, but it is so exciting each time. I can't wait to see what my crew creates and what others produce. Lots of photos of chicks, eggs and adults are appreciated. The more details the better.

My Olive egger is about to pop out her first egg. I'm on pins and needles waiting to see what color we get!
