Thank you. They were my first hatch. I can't wait to see how they feather out!

Question!
My friend has a blue wheaten ameraucana rooster, and a blue splash maran pullet - would they create olive egger babies? Or does the Mom have to be a blue layer?
Aren't they cute!? Mine looked the exact same as the marans... almost. my OE was a little bit darker and didn't have quite the light white stomach...I just noticed that one of my OE babies, 6 weeks, has adorable puffy cheek feathers! Flippin' adorable! She looks just like a black copper marans otherwise. I don't know HOW I missed this until now!
I think the best part of the mutt aspect of OEs is that you never quite know what you'll get. Fun!![]()
My 3 OE's have straight combs and lay olive eggs.....I have a bunch of lovely little pullets from an Olive Egger breeder that are straight combed. These are 5th generation OEs. What do you all call the birds that will not lay olive eggs, but are from OE project stock? Mutts? OEs?
They are from a Barnevelder roo and a Lavender Ameraucana hen. All 3 of my hens from that mix lay an olive egg. I think it's kinda fun to see what you will get when they start laying.Awesome! Yep, I know it CAN happen, but isn't too common with the marans X ameraucana X leghorn mix my birds derive from. You're lucky! My straight combs OEs are just 7 weeks, so time will tell.... I will keep them either way!![]()
Your birds are beautiful! Do you know what varieties were used to create them?
I had a few from the same person. laid olive eggs tooThey are from a Barnevelder roo and a Lavender Ameraucana hen. All 3 of my hens from that mix lay an olive egg. I think it's kinda fun to see what you will get when they start laying.
