The Olive-Egger thread!

700

I just had to let you all know that I still have hope. The second little darling laid her first bluish egg today. Although not olive colored like I had hoped, At least it wasn't brown like the first darling. I still have five more that could give olive eggs.
The two that have given eggs so far look identical except their shanks, one has greenish/tan and the other has bluish/grey. They both have pea comb and fluffy chin and cheeks. Out of the 7 pullets that hatched these two are the only ones with fluffy faces.

What kind of record-keeping methods does everyone use?
Right now I have a big excel spreadsheet with tabs for each hatch, plus a tab with my current flocks. Columns for leg band, breed, comb, color, egg color, etc.

I want to use an ipad app to make a profile for each keeper, with pictures of hens & the eggs they lay, plus link back to the spreadsheet. Something like a baseball card for each one maybe....
Most people I've talked to have a notebook. I would LOVE to have your spreadsheet template to work with, so as not to re-create the wheel. Are you willing to share that? If so, please feel free to PM me the file. I don't have a tablet or ipad, but PC and laptops.

My Amelias(Creme Legbar x Crele Penedesenca) have been in a breeding pen for a week now. They are steadily laying and I have gotten up to three eggs from the pen. I expect more of them to start laying after a molt.

I have lights on for them. Check out the white ear lobes glowing from the led lights:

The lights are working! I found these 65 and 66Gram beauties in the nest box this morning:

I was going to ask too, but others beat me to it

Let me do a little clean up, then I will share what i have. It's got a few tabs from when I was weighing eggs to change humidity based on air cell loss, so there are formulas that might be helpful.

I'll upload a couple of screenshots so you can see if it's something useful. I color code based on hatch date so I can decide when to rotate hens.

If you are willing to send the "empty" Excel file to me PM that would be awesome! Unless there is a way to upload a file to the list?
