So the light one is a splash??? Maybe it's one of the barred chicks. I got them from Patty (onthespot). Some are barred, I couldn't keep track of who hatched out of what egg.
Kathy,
That purple egg is so cool , wow. I have some blue olive egger chicks that I plan to breed back to my true Araucana roosters and I'm hoping for a hen that will lay eggs like that, or anything close to that. What is the crosses to get a hen that lays eggs like that? If one of my little olive egger chicks is a rooster, would you be interested? Right now I have 18 blue eggs out of my true Araucana rooster and my purebred Ameraucana hens (3 blacks and 2 blues). Would you be interested in any of them before I put them in the incubator? They're nice blue eggs.
Are yours Wellsummer or Maran crosses for those dark eggs? I love raising the chicks but once I have the hens I want for egg layers, I'll be done for a while and hopefully by then, I'll have some true Araucana hens to pen up with my 2 roosters.

Cathy, This is my beautiful Miss Olive! I hatched her from Wynette.
Hmmm, you tempt me on those eggs! But, I really can't. I have to stop incubating for awhile.... at least until I cull down to a reasonable number! HOWEVER, I do think I will cross Miss Olive back to a blue egger in the future! Maybe a Marans also, and see what each one produces. I need to wait awhile though.
Well, on the other hand, I guess I could send these eggs out .... Right now she is penned with Marans, and lays a beautiful large egg every day (so far). If anyone is interested, just PM me! When my Ameraucana chicks grow out, I will pen her with them.
Kathy, yeppers - I'd breed her to a true blue-laying Ameraucana line. I've got eggs that look very much like yours from my brown olive egger, bred to a Blue Ameraucana roo, in my bator now; this line is a green laying line, so I'll be super curious to see what color eggs the female babies lay, assuming I get any, and assuming I get any females (I'm only incubating 5, along with some Jersey Giant eggs). Should be interesting!
ETA: Kathy, does your Miss Olive have clean legs? If so, that's the ONLY one that's hatched with clean legs!
I know I should probably post this request under the "Items Wanted to Buy" section (Mods feel free to move) but I figured I'd get more of a response here...
One of my Buff Orpingtons is going broody and I'd love for her to have some fertile eggs to hatch. Does anyone have some Olive Egger eggs that they'd be willing to ship out this next week? I want to get eggs under her as soon as possible, the sooner the better. This will be her first clutch, honestly I'm not really expecting a 100% success rate from her, that being said I don't want to drop a ton of money on eggs that she might not brood to completion. So, the cheaper the better!
I am getting SO impatient to have some Olive Eggers. . . I have a very kind lady who teaches a science class who bought some "Olive Egger" ( EE x Brahma and Wyandotte) hatching eggs from me and will give back the chicks, plus I have a green egger Polish chick, but otherwise my own creations through Marans, Ameraucanas, and Araucanas won't even be in egg-form until mid summer. . . .
THEN the chicks won't be of laying age until winter or spring.
