The Olive-Egger thread!

I got my chicks today from Meyer hatchery! I know a few of us were wondering what the olive eggers looked like here is one of them. The others are a little bit lighter in color than this one.

I did notice they have feathered legs. I don't know if it's normal or not. Guess it depends on what they are crossed with?

I don't know but there were only 3 I couldn't identify and they would be the olive eggers because the ee chicks are all chipmunk striped. And all the other chicks I could identify. I know they said they have 2 breeding programs for them. What do your oe chicks from Meyer look like?

Well, I asked them to mark the two we bought, but Meyer didn't mark them as I had requested. We have only picked out one of the two, and I thought it was the meal maker since the others were identified, so I had thought. This is the only picture I have of it, since it's at a friend's. We each ordered one, and the one I'm supposed to have isn't in my group. I didn't take any pictures of it as a chick, but it was a solid dark grey, and none of the others looked like this one. We ordered about 30 chicks, and it was shared between three people. We ordered several different breeds.

The 2 other chicks are more of a slate grey/light blue with not as much of yellow on them. That's to bad that you didn't get the one you wanted.

Is this charcoal bird crested? That would indicate CCL as the blue part of the equation.

I just got my first olive eggers today from a local breeder. He put a 4th generation olive egger roo over barred rock and black copper marans hens. There are three what we hope are pullets. One looks similar to the blue chick JFreeman pictured, another is the same shade of blue but with slight barring which I assume are from a barred rock hen and the last one is black with brown around the neck that must be from a black copper marans. All three have ear tufts. They are only 2-3 months old so it will be a while before I find out what color they lay.

It is crested. What is CCL? I'm not familiar with all breed acronyms yet.

Very VERY cool lookin chick! Most if not all of my OEs have feathered legs, I use a BCMs cockerel over EEs and OEs.
