Do you have the wheaten Ameraucana? I have been looking for some hatching eggs in the NW with no luck so far. I'd like Blue or Wheaten Ameraucana.

I have as well. I saw some craigslist ads for true Wheaten Ameraucanas recent but I haven't seen any for blue Am which is what i want.

I have two pullets (one Wheaten and one Blue Wheaten) and one good roo (Wheaten), but the girls are not laying at the moment. My Blue Wheaten roo has no muff or beard (so he is double recessive as beards and muffs are a dominant trait), which disqualifies him from the breed standard. So, I've been using him to make Olive Eggers. The Wheaten roo is from the same breeder and has a nice muff and beard. I have been crossing him with my Barred Rocks to make sure all his offspring have beards and muffs (a test to make sure he's got two of the dominant genes). So far all his offspring do, so I think he's good for breeding.

Anyway, long story short, I won't have fertile eggs to sell until next spring. There is an Ameraucana thread, you might try there. Just do your homework before you post. A few of them are very serious about their birds, if you get my drift!

We just got these 8wk old little peeps yesterday. They are Blue Splash Maran / Americauna mixes...isn't that an "Olive Egger" combination? Two have gray legs and one has olive green legs. They are sweet as can be, and we love their gray/blue coloring. Looking forward to watching them grow up.

Cute babies! Those are olive crosses. As long as they have pea combs they will lay olive eggs. A friend of mine bought some olive egger chicks. They are 3rd generation crosses of Marans and Ameraucana. One of the pullets ended up with a straight comb; she lays dark brown eggs just like a regular Marans. She didn't inherit a blue egg gene. Her sisters all have pea combs and lay olive eggs.

Olive and dark brown eggs are exactly what we're looking for! Our next additions are going to be straight Copper Marans (if I can find some). Then we will have a rainbow of feather colors and egg colors in our flock. Thanks for the tip about the combs.

her comb almost looks like a single comb, but when viewed from the top it has a little bit of a wiggle to it. could it be a pea comb?

I have heard that pea comb = olive egger, single comb = not so that is why I am asking. she hatched from a green egg, and her dad was a lav marans. thanks everyone!

I prefer Ameraucanas. Don't like the rumpless feature of the Araucanas. I think I have located some Blue Ameraucana in Washington state.

She looks like she should be a olive egger. Be sure to post a photo of the eggs when you finally get them.

Howdy olive eggers. Ive recently hatched blue isbars, crested cream legbars, cuckoo, wheaten, and black copper Marans chicks. Not sure their sexes yet (except for the ccl).This is a looong thread to catch up on. Have any of u used any of these combinations?
