The Olive-Egger thread!

Finally got my olive egger! Waited several months, the one I originally was going to get ended up being a cockerel, so the breeder kept him. I was able to get another one, a BCM/ameraucana cross that has already been laying. She is just over a year old and is currently molting but she is all black with the beautiful green sheen. Ameraucana cheeks and BCM feathered legs. So excited to see what her eggs look like when she starts laying again later this year. My rainbow egged flock is now complete!

That is from a little bit ago, she looks like a welsummer chick. Not a leg bar chick. She got fluffy cheeks, no fluff up top. I think maybe a Americana.

Supposed to be an olive Egger, guess I’ll never know, as you can see, they will be laying no eggs. Just turned 19 weeks, starting week 16 he’s been crowing dawn to dusk.

So to be considered an OE it has to lay olive eggs? So if a cross that should produce OEs produces some chickens that don’t lay olive eggs, those particular hens are not OEs?

What cross do have?
EE can lay blue, green, brown, pink.
OE should lay olive, tho 'olive' is rather subjective.
There's no color chart like for pure breed Ameraucana and Marans.

Aart, in your opinion, if an "OE" lays brown eggs, is it an EE? This is where I found debate.
