This thread has just FORCED me to commit to breeding some of these lovely birds.

Along with my blue wheaten Ameraucana roo, I'm going to add (not to the same pen of course) a black Ameraucana roo to my flock. Now where are those dark egg layers I need to go with him?

Nice looking bird.I have some cuckoo out of an attempt to bring dominant white into the bantam ameraucana.I have been told dominant white carries the barred gene.I used LF E egger D-white over black bantam AM hens out of the lavender project.Aparently one hen carried the barring gene.The white AM are recessive but D-white I thought would be easier to eradicate from breeding projects in future generations.All mine came out white legged due to barring inhibiting melanin.Others gave up on barred because of this.Slate legs being a required trait.I see your bird has dark legs.Anyone care to explain how this happened?If I can figure out how to put on a pic I will later.
