Went to check on my broody and found an eggshell. I only got a split second view, but I have 1 olive egger out that is still wet and 2 more pips.

Yeah, I've got a batch of Marans in the bator right now...I have to say, I'm NOT looking forward to raising up chicks through winter. Sigh....

Well I got a better look at the baby, even got to hold it for a second. It looks dark blue, which would mean Ford is the daddy, but no feathered shanks.

It's a little crusty, which makes me worry about the other eggs that haven't hatched yet. My broody was having a hard time keeping the chick under her with the eggs. She would tuck the eggs together and then tuck the baby in with the eggs.

As soon as my jam is done, I'll snap some pics.

2 are out now. I haven't seen the 2nd one yet, but the eggshell was pushed out. Another one is almost out. Here's the first chicks quick photoshoot.

Finally got to see the 2nd chick, and this one is DEFINITELY Fords' baby. It's very blue!
