Now I'm getting excited...............I just counted it out and my 3 olive egger girls are 17 weeks old!!!!! Gosh I can't wait to see what colors they lay.

Woot! Exciting for SURE! I have 2 2nd generation girls that I am waiting on to lay...sheesh, they're like 34 weeks or something. Sigh...OH SORRY! I'm sure yours will lay MUCH sooner than mine! The rooster line was slow to lay in mine...

Well geez thanks Wynette! I sure hope I don't have to wait 34 weeks! Their combs are starting to turn, so I'm hoping for that "hybrid vigor" will kick in.

I'm particularly anxious about my blue girl laying since she's from my olive egger rooster and his genes are an unknown.

Whoo hoo!!! Surprise, surprise. I got an olive egg yesterday!! I'm not sure which of my pullets it is. I have 4 EE hens crossed with a Barnevelder roo. Here are a few eggs.

One of the hens hatched 6 eggs this summer. 2 EE/OE were roos. The only other hen I knew for sure was an EE (Buffy) turned out to be a brown egg layer. The other three I thought were all Barnies. Here are the four hens in question and a couple of Buffy's eggs with the new olive egg from????

The seafoam green egg is from one of the EE's that has started laying again. Now I will have to try and figure out who is the Olive Egger!!

Philly - yes, they have nice stock. Disappointingly, he no longer sells hatching eggs, just chicks. I had wanted some super speckly hatching eggs, but now since he only sells chicks, I declined. Need to see the egg they hatched from!
