Very beautiful eggs. I still have no
eggs from mine yet. I have one girl and boy I hatched in April from Wynette. All my other Olive Egger chicks are between 9 weeks and 12 weeks. Most of the chicks were hatched black. There are a few that have a blue color and I will keep them, I am choosing now which I should keep. Then I am going to breed those chicks to my Lavender Ameraucana rooster and the Lavender girls to the Marans Rooster. My FBCM girls are just starting to lay eggs are not that dark but will keep an eye on them. I'm still waiting for they to lay. I have yet to see the roosters cover those girls yet and they hatched in Feb. Don't know other then I think they are afraid of my very large Marans rooster.

Ok I have come to the point that my mystery chick I got back in June is a Roo. My guess is that he is a golden lace wyandotte. My question is if I put him in with my EE hens will their offspring give me olive eggs? I will post a pic of him after this thunderstorm passes if you want.

Probably you'll get green. You are more likely to get olive if you are crossing a really dark brown layer, with an EE or true Ameraucana.

Yardbirds sask, those are beautiful olive eggs you have! I have 4 possible olive-egger pullets that are the same color as the one you posted. I also have one that is solid black, and a gray one with a copper head. I have no idea what color eggs I will get, since the roo is an olive-egger, and the hens were layers of dark brown, light green, sage green, and olive.. It will be fun to see what happens.

Thanks everyone for the comments, the eggs are shiny cuz I took them out of the fridge and we are experiencing a heatwave, so is condensation...

I am finding that my 2nd gen Olive Eggers sired by my BCM are getting more straight combs.... they are hard to get darker it seems. Maybe the theory of Olive Egger over Olive Egger is best after the 2 gen. Anybody got an idea? I get pretty good volume of pea combs with the first cross, but putting them in with Marans to darken the eggs, lots more straight combs..... should I keep any of the straight combs really? I have been selling them for layers, but maybe I shouldn't?

These are hard to get the right color.... you think it is just a cross but NOOOOOOOOO it is lots of crosses.
