Hey guys,
So I am new here, and I need some help or confirmation in the breed of my new pullet who is about 12 weeks old or so. I was told by the guy I purchased her from that she is a Silver Cuckoo Marans, but I have had a little help from some of you on here, and I think she is a (SCM EE X) Olive Egger. She seems pretty light in comparison to the ones that I've seen. From what I have gathered, they usually look very similar to the BR, and mine has a little beard/muff, which I haven't seen on the SCM. I just don't know (not that it matters, she is beautiful and I love her anyway). She has the SCM pink and grey legs with the start of feathering. Plus with the single comb, what kind of eggs would I get? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jen

Here are some pics I took the other day:
(Her comb looks really red because of the light in the coop, it is actually pretty yellow)

She has the barring on her neck but then what looks like splash? coloring on the body.

Welcome! If the bird is around 12 weeks, I'm thinking it is a pullet. I can't really guess what mix of breeds it is, as I've never even had a SCM. A straight comb does not absolutely mean you won't get olive eggs, just that it is less likely.

I hatched a bunch of olive-egger eggs a while back (not my stock) both F1s and F2s. One had a straight comb, and she did not lay olive, but I did get a beautiful dark Marans egg from her. Not what I was expecting, but a very nice surprise!
Good luck with her. She is pretty!

She looks more mottled than barred. She is not splash, splash is a blue not black. I don't see cuckoo marans in her really, but it could be there. Could be something else.

Thanks you guys. Mottled is the word I was looking for. I had a bantam Cochin that was mottled and was my favorite of my birds, but sadly as they do, it turned into a Roo and had to find another home where it live for a few weeks and then was eaten because the new owners didn't put them on lockdown like I did. I digress... I spoke with the man I got her from and he still swears she is pure cuckoo marans "but anything is possible, I guess." It doesn't matter to me one bit what breed she is, I am just very impatient and want to know what her eggs will look like. Thanks again for the input.

I do see baring in there but not a Marans at least pure Marans. she has a puffy cheek gene

Hey Copper12, yeah, the puffy cheeks were what made me think that she was not a pure SCM. I think she is SCM EE X, but with the breeders "EGGcellent" breeding records, he doesn't know and i don't know. He is in denial that she isn't pure. I just have to wait for eggs to tell me what I have I guess.
