Tolbunt Polish baby.

In April of 2009 I woke up with a headache and decided to go out and get some fresh air.It was raining outside but I went out anyways. While walking around the yard I noticed a very strange looking black and white bird sitting on the side of the road out front- soaking wet and so weak it could barely hold its head up! I picked him up and put him in a"have a heart" trap with some bird seed and water and in a few days recovered very well! People sometimes drop unwanted animals in front of a farm like ours in hopes someone will take care of them.I learned what I had was a polish bantam rooster! I named him Snooky and we became buddy's. He was beholden to me for saving his life and followed me everywhere around the homestead!! He would come when I called, jump in my lap if I said "jump Snooky!",go for rides with me on my tractor and take walks with me in the field! I built him a nice coop and got him some hens to live with. Couldn't believe l was bonding like this with a darn chicken! I used to trim the feathers around his eyes so he could actually see! Anyway,I really loved that little bugger-he ruled over 2 flocks and lived for 8 years. It was this little guy that got me started raising chickens and today I have 9 hens, one rooster and 3 guineas!! Thanks,Snooky!!

what a lovely story!!! :love

The red comes later.

Here is my gold laced boy at 2 months to see his colouring. He is half silkie so ignore the small crest.

Then again at 3 months to see how the colours develop and then fully grown at 5 months.

He was the noisiest and most beautiful cockerel I've ever had! He went to a good home and I was sad to give him away.
Hes a beautiful bird!

Shes Beautiful!
Just watch her then one day a name will come to mind.
I have one just like yours. A White Crested Black. Her name is The Iron Maiden. I do not have a rooster and she survived a brutal crest scalping and scalping down her neck and back before I found her. I gave her breaths and chest compressions. Then her recoup time was 8 weeks.
Hence; The Iron Maiden. Lol
Its very appropriate for her to survive.
Well my 10 Chicks Thankfully arrived early this morning. So far no pasty butt, resp distress, splayed legs ect. Empty crops and hungry and thirsty. Here's what I'm guessing I received.
4 golden laced,
2-3 white crested blue or white crested Black, 1 silver Appenzeller, 2 Buff.
Plus, I had a wonderful BYC friend from Germany help me ALL day with excellent expertise, knowledge and emotional support. This event was a successful daytime acceptance. They have been with my Beloved Becky. A silver Lace since 0900 when we started the process of adding 10 two day old chicks. I can not THANK her enough!!:celebrate:wee:hugs:love:bow:bow:bow:bow @LaFleche

So, my Peabody (& crew) just experienced their first rainstorm outside. And by 'outside', I mean, they didn't even bother going into or under the coop, they just stayed out in the open area of their little run. 🙄 🤣 Of course, Peabody managed to get wetter than the others. 🤦🏻‍♀️
I love the "hair do" well..."Feather Do"!
