I know it is hard to wait and you have ended up with boys in the past, but you should know soon. They are so adorable!

Yea.. i was so bummed w that last little one, was handling him every day, he didn't scream like i was going to turn him into a chicken nugget. Hopped on my finger. Those are always the ones!

Im a wimp at the heart tho, chicken business is heartbreaking! I'll be busy finishing with my kitchen, so It'll help keep my mind occupied.

I know the friendliest ones always seem to be boys. My two girls that have that personality, I was convinced were male for so long. Still go back and forth with Hanabi, even though she is 16 weeks now and obviously female. (I still check her for male saddle feathers...)

Question for yall, we are already discussing breeds to get for next year, (we have a running wish-list) and DH said he thinks he wants his to be a Polish chicken because they look cool. (We each pick one for “ours” & share the rest!) My son immediately told him they aren’t good in snowy wet areas like where we live. So can any of you give your experience so I know whether to crush his dream now, or add one to the list! Lol. Thanks for the help!

Well, I can’t speak to snowy weather, though we do get a lot of rain. Their crests get wet, but not a real problem.

Hey Polish chicken peeps - got a question for you.

What do your polish chickens sound like compared to the other chickens?
My 2 month old pullet is like "eee" and "uuhhh-uuhhh" instead of the chicken sounds I'm used to with my other chickens. She even knows her name. I went out a little while ago and called her to the side of the run so that I could throw her a treat. She came running and played keep away with my polish cockerel. He never makes much noise except his crowing. I've only got the 2 for now.

Mine creak instead of cluck. Even the polish cross seems to have inherited this trait. I have read others that say theirs are loud, mine are some of the quietest chickens I have.

Ok.. i had some modeling volunteers today... i know, not the best, and not close enough, but let me assure you there were a dozen blurs that got deleted.

Officially 5 weeks today... im ok waiting more time for official votes.. but curious if you guys think there are some clear ones here.

So.. this is Bob.. who was the big boy.. w a very pretty crest that i am now wondering might be female?? if you load the pic, you can get q better view.. i *think* the creat feathers are rounded..



This is little one... she is the littlest, thinnest legs, smallest head, and runs up to me (look, she even flew out of the brooder)... which probably means its a heart breaker the shadow in the brooder casts off some orangey light, but im not seekng any pink or wattles..



Here is the one that im seeing pink wattles on... such a good model!
