The one is doing great, the other I had to cull at just under 2 weeks. She was dying and was just getting trampled so felt it was kinder to stop trying. Poor thing. However, the other is super tough.
Ahh I’m sorry that you had to make that decision. It’s always so tough :-( I’m glad at least the one is strong and tough! ❤️

Got some new pictures of the babies today! They’re getting so big! The girls are so sweet and the boys are getting some crazy hair started! I just love them. They all pile together (minus the frizzle who roosts with my other chicks) in the nest box with the two Silkie mommas at bedtime. It’s adorable 🥰 I am just in LOVE with Ms Josephine Baker. She’s just the sweetest and her feathered crest is just so amazing 😍 Lola and Sally are just beautiful too and I can’t wait to see how their feather patterns change as they get older and molt! I’m sadly going to rehome two of my rocker dudes and trying to decide if on maybe selling one of the girls too. I am not sure I have the room for all the chickens I have and want to keep! 😩😩

A couple of the babies getting fun crest feathers. I just love the teenage head feathers on Polish 😍
About how old do they start getting their crest feathers? We have two that are two weeks old. I am already thinking one is a rooster because he’s growing bigger faster and stands up straighter than the other one.

I think mine were 3 weeks old when they started? But, as someone told me, the early fast growth may mean girl in Polish! My biggest and most curious chick early on is in fact a really sweet girl. The boys are now huge and the girls slowed down. If you post some pics of them we can try to help with gender :).

We have them in the garage and they’re very skiddish so I hope these photos will do. I couldn’t get them standing because they are always on the move or laying down. I will have to try to upload photos when I’m somewhere that has internet better than I do. That’s the one drawback of living in the boondocks. 😂
