This coming february i’m going to be ordering black-crested white polish from ideal poultry! Super excited, I owned two polish before, white crested black, but one died as a chick and the other died after flock integration. I didn’t quite know about the vaulted-skull thing and feel bad, but this time I plan to keep the polish separate from the main flock.
If allowed, here’s some photos of the polish I had before she died. She was very cute, and i’m excited and nervous about getting back into them. View attachment 3351109View attachment 3351110
She's a cutie! So sorry you lost her! I have a couple polish now, and lost one a few months back. Im not sure if she ingested something that got stuck or maybe was egg bound, but she declined so quickly, i didn't have time to figure it out. But the other two girls are goofy and fun. They are large sized along with my bantams. One likes to poke my little silkie's skull.. not cool.. but they all have their escape places to hide.

We have such bad luck with Polish! So far no bullying or pecking deaths, they run easily with our big free ranging flock. I do separate Ethel (bantam) and Goldie (super poof pullet) for feeding spending on the day. Ethel finalyyyyyyy figured out the horizontal nipples though 🎉 So I worry less now. Every morning, I let the banty pens out first so they can have an easier time at the water/feeders

I had 3, 2 were not pecked. I kept the poor little pecked hen. I rehomed the other 2 with a group that were going into their own coop. So hopefully they will be the bosses, if any other chickens get adopted. Hopefully with some of the other hens getting a new home, the dynamics will be the remaining polish will have less stress.

I haven’t checked in here in awhile! I broke down and agreed to buy a buff laced polish girl from Meyers with a local chicken friend…so I’m trying one more time to keep a Polish pullet. My two that ended up surviving the “great rapid die off” of 2022 are still doing well! Spider is a huge sweet boy and JoJo is a weird little frizzle boy. 😆 He crows rarely if ever and has tried mounting a couple ladies that were NOT impressed…so he just wanders around doing his quirky thing. 😍

This is the new girl! Born 11/28, we named her Butterscotch and call her Butters 😁 She’s super friendly, has shown no fear so far, and I just adore her 😍

Spider came inside today for some meds…he wasn’t feeling well and it appears he may have thrush so he got some miconidazole and yeast oil extract and rest. After about 5 hours on my lap sleeping…he popped up and decided to check out the house 😆😁

JoJo got to spend some time inside earlier in the week when we got a bunch of rain and he opted to stand out in it instead of joining the flock in the warm dry coop! 🤪 So I decided to help him see a bit better. 😆

I love all chicken breeds, but I absolutely love polish chickens!
Not only do they look beautiful and hilarious, they are well known for being friendly and have great personalities.
I don't own them (yet) but my silkie, Pippin is sitting on 6 polish bantam eggs. Hopefully they hatch so Pippin can fulfil her dreams of being a mamma hen, and fulfil my dreams of having some polish! click here to see the colours I might get and some info about the eggs. I'm hoping to get a laced buff and a range of colours

Our Goldie is from Meyers too, we’ve had much better luck with them so far 🤞🏼 Hopefully you do too! She just graduated from the baby pen and decided she liked cooping up with Bantyland apparently. What a cutie 😍
