The Pita Pinta Asturiana

Pics
We are culling our extra cockerels next Sat. Is anyone interested in one of them or even a breeding pair or trio? I also have some 2-5 week old chicks available. Zorro is the father and the mothers are the hens from last year and the best pullets from this year. The eggs were collected before I separated the girls into 2 different pens. PM me if interested.

Here is a pic from the Pita Pile. They do not want to be individually photo'd

The one with the most black on his back it definitely a boy as is the one in back with his long neck up. I think the others are probably girls

The cream legbars are behind the pitas

Jason @Hangtown Farms Is very close to getting Penedesenca and empordensa eggs from Spain. We should know a cost when he gets his going.

The biggest expense is the trip. Dr . Frenscesch mentioned someone needs to pick them up. I think you can handle up too 200 eggs in carry on per Person is what Jewlee Chastin Mentioned to mentioned to me. She was the Second importer in the Penedesenca . I am just in the starting phases again of looking as Spain just started exporting again. He just shipped some to Israel but it was much easier. also So you have he importation cost which Jewlee told me was 300-350 ( back in 2003 ) cost of eggs which was not much but not sure what would cost this time. the cost of the trip is the big deal. You need a good breeder on that side as well that will deal with the paperwork and any quarantine that needs to be done. Dr. Francesch runs Aviraut which is a developmental breeder that may be partially funded by the government and deals with Catalan breeds not just poultry they have a website and Facebook page if anyone wants to check it out, Regardless this makes the exportation part easier. The first think is finding a breeder on that side that can help. I would not just check Spain but if I recall correctly these are popular in Germany as well.

I will post any updates i find as well

Maybe crowd funding this project might not be a bad idea.

I am out of this project, I got a pair from a US breeder and he sold me his culls, then I was trying to import to the states and USDA doesn't want to cooperate, I learned a lot from this breed, my friends told me that this is the hardest breed to work with, even many of the Spanish breeder doesn't want to ship eggs.

Well I can cough up some dough but I'm out for travel. Plus I'm working on setting up my silver lab breeding program. Come to find my promising boy has a knee issue and he is out. I would help but someone has to take lead. Unless we would be content setting aside quads to swap each other.... .
