Where exactly is the keel bone?
Just imagine the keel of a ship. It runs right behind the wish bone towards the back of the bird it is basically the breast bone

On the birds we culled it was felt like someone had taken a thumb and made a small arch in it moving either left or right (dont remember) It wasnt really that noticable unless you ran your hands along the whole of the keel.

This is from the Buckey SOP:

Body and Fluff—Body, rather long, broad, deep, full, heavy for size of bird ;
keel-bone, long, straight, extending well forward. Fluff, moderately full.

In the Spanish Standard, is the bent keel bone points of or a dis-qualifier?

Also, keel bones can be bent by big chickens roosting on narrow roost boards. Round roost and 2x4 on the narrow end will cause it.

do they get bent side ways though its kind of wierd It wasnt a depression or bent over like you might expect from a roost it was like someone had placed a thumb on the side of the keel and made a dent in it that created a little U in the keel (not concave along the line the line ran crooked) maybe debi has a better idea I only felt it in 2 -3 birds.

The Pita Pinta eggs are going fertile! I have 6 developing in the incubator so I can start getting eggs out to folks now!

I hope I get two pullets out of this hatch!

Do you have a waiting list?, or what? Because I don't know how long it will take me to build some stuff that I'll need

I do have a waiting list and You are on it at number 12. Depending on when the others are ready, it will be a while so you have time to get ready.

They do ship and hatch well.

Yesterday, I shipped 1 doz Pita Pinta eggs to MO. It is a test hatch to see how good my packaging is as well as how well the Pita Pinta eggs survive the shipping. They are due to arrive on Thursday and be set on Friday.
