This is from the Buckey SOP:Just imagine the keel of a ship. It runs right behind the wish bone towards the back of the bird it is basically the breast bone
On the birds we culled it was felt like someone had taken a thumb and made a small arch in it moving either left or right (dont remember) It wasnt really that noticable unless you ran your hands along the whole of the keel.![]()
do they get bent side ways though its kind of wierd It wasnt a depression or bent over like you might expect from a roost it was like someone had placed a thumb on the side of the keel and made a dent in it that created a little U in the keel (not concave along the line the line ran crooked) maybe debi has a better idea I only felt it in 2 -3 birds. Also, keel bones can be bent by big chickens roosting on narrow roost boards. Round roost and 2x4 on the narrow end will cause it.
Do you have a waiting list?, or what? Because I don't know how long it will take me to build some stuff that I'll need![]()
The Pita Pinta eggs are going fertile! I have 6 developing in the incubator so I can start getting eggs out to folks now!
I hope I get two pullets out of this hatch!
