The Pita Pinta Asturiana

The babies are getting to be so big!

They will be two weeks old on Saturday.

I am teaching them to use the vertical water fountain. They are a bit too small to operate it because of the spring but they are figuring it out!

Yeah mine are doing well too. Thanks for the hatch. Looks like you might be giving rooster baskets for gifts this year.

How cute!!!! What other breed is in there with the Pita Pinta chicks?

One of my chicks loves me! It is only 2 weeks old but I'm pretty sure it's a he. My experience with PP is that the friendliest and bravest chicks are usually male. I've given him the name Smudge because he has a light smudge of color above one eye. He runs to my hand when I take the lid off the brooder. I haven't started giving them treats yet so he's not coming for treats. I'll have to try to get a video of him before they are moved to an outside brooder.

I know someone who may be in the market for a few started pullets in June if anyone has any then...
I should have some available by then. I'm not sure how many more that I will hatch. We are planning on moving to Placerville sometime in the 6 mo-1 yr and I have 38 yrs worth of stuff to go through. :)

Is your Husband retiring?
He is thinking about it or I should say planning for it! He has been working for UC Santa Cruz for almost 9 1/2 yr now. He needs to work until Jan 1 in order to get certain benefits. He needs both knees replaced so he is trying to figure out the best way to get those done before he retires. He commutes home to Antioch on Friday afternoon and then leaves for work on Monday morning. It would be double the commute if we move before he retires.
