I did figure to buy one or two and see how they are. These red lights get so hot and like I've said I've had them burn out and lost chicks.

I just ordered one from the posted seller but there are others on Ebay that have them too. They come in white and black so I might order a couple more.

Has anyone used these? Are they safer than these Red Lights?
I agree with most comments about these, I have used them last season, What I find is that white and red lights gather insects around them and the chicks jump up to catch the insects and "kill" the light. A black bulb last long as they do gather insects. Lets face it the price is right.

I do not know what is like in the US but we cannot get 60 watt bulbs anymore.

You can get those ceramic heat bulbs at most pet supplies stores and there going to be standard U.S. voltage.
Check out E-bay, I can get them at my pet store etc for $60, I bought 4 for $22.00, that price will do me. They last longer then red lights, (which also cost $60 in OZ) as they do not gather insects etc).

First two pics are at 15 weeks old. The last was taken yesterday at 16 weeks old. I think this is the best of my 6 young boys.

This group of cockerels is 14-16 weeks old.

Do the cockerels usually go thru an awkward growth stage about this age? A few of these seemed much nicer looking a few weeks ago. Waiting and watching.
