Well I think I came here awhile back looking for hatching eggs. I don't think I ever got a response and I was upset. But tonight while at work I read the last 141 posts and see why I got no response. After reading what all ya'll have done and how your keeping track and how much work ya'll are doing I can see why I didn't get a response. I give ya'll props that's a lot of work you are doing and I like how you broke down what your doing and how your keeping track when someone cant remember who asked all the questions. I now see why people will ask for 40+ for hatching eggs. Sadly till I win the loto i'll stick with my hatchery chickens lol. Well the person I bought them from got them from hatchery. Hope I have an easy day tomorrow at work so I can start at the start of thread and read it all.

Anyways keep up the work i'll have to follow this more.

There are (one I can think of anyway) Plymouth Rock breeders in NY. If you are still inclined to go heritage route of chickens keep in mind two things:

1) They wont lay eggs like hatchery birds.

2) If you can drive to get hatching eggs from a breeder your hatch rate will be very good and wont pay for shipping excepting gas money.

Yeah I've drove for chickens quite a distance just to not pay shipping. Wife wasn't happy but she got over it lol.
The Buffalo area poultry club might be your best bet for finding local hatching eggs:

Ty very much will be checking that out later today. Think that's the first time I've seen anything chicken related close to me. First year with chickens still finding these clubs and info.

I'm still discovering clubs and people after several years. Also many of the older breeders are not on the internet, you find them through ads in Poultry Press and show catalogs and by getting to know people in clubs and at shows. You might want to check out the Plymouth Rock Fanciers Club too, http://prfca.poultrysites.com/

Too sometimes someone asks a question and the readers don't know the answer. In your case there may not be many selling hatching eggs right now. If you can find someone close to you to pick up eggs or birds from I'd go that route. Hatch rate on shipped eggs has been dismal for me. 14 eggs and I get maybe one chick if I"m lucky. My own eggs hatch 80-100%

7.5 mo old HBR cockerel, 6lbs 7oz

Processed weight. :) I forgot to weigh him beforehand. Free range & 19% protein feed. Also we had to let them grow a bit longer before deciding who to cull, but worth the final result.

shoot. My Buff cockerel is 6 months and is just hitting 8.5 pounds live weight. Can't imagine he'd weigh more than 4.5 dressed.... I see I have a ways to go with these guys! I'm feeding 20% broiler grower even now.
